a release in Georgia Soccer – Youth does NOT make a player a free agent, as a release does in professional sports. As per the Rules/Regs:
860. Release (Form 200) -- Georgia Soccer authorized removal of a player from a team roster, and from the league which the team is associated. The player’s player pass must be returned to the league office with the release form. Once a player is released, he/she is put on inactive status with Georgia Soccer and is placed in an inactive player pool. The released player is then ineligible to participate in any practices or games, or in any tournaments. In order to be returned to active status during the same seasonal year, the player must go back to his/her original league and re-register or initiate a transfer request (Form 100) with that affiliated league.
